From what store/website are the apps and setup packages downloaded?
The setup packages and updates are downloaded directly from their authors' website.
How safe are the included apps?
WSCC only includes apps that pass basic security checks (reputation, anti-malware). The WSCC update database stores the SHA256 hash (checksum) of the app setup packages, and the Update Manager uses this hash to verify the integrity of the downloaded packages. This ensures that only verified apps can be installed. Also, WSCC use only HTTPS connections for enhanced security.
While WSCC contains only well-known apps from trusted publishers, it's still recommended to use an up-to-date antivirus on your system!
